Steve’s Piano

Since my teenage years, I have dreamed of someday owning a grand piano. Today I am so thankful to be the owner of the majestic Baldwin grand shown on the left, and proudly displayed on the homepage of this website. My wife graciously gave up the dining room to accommodate the new addition. This Baldwin model “F” is a 7-foot grand piano purchased from Premier Pianos (now Piano Pros) in West Chester, Ohio. Originally built in 1940, the piano was manufactured right here in Cincinnati before the company later relocated to Convey, Arkansas. The cast iron frame bears the Cincinnati stamp as shown in the photo below.

Over the years, everything on this piano with the exception of the cast iron frame and cabinet has been completely rebuilt including hammers, strings, pin block and tuning pins. I was especially excited to acquire this instrument after learning that it was originally owned by the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where I attended, and was located for many years in the studio of Professor Elizabeth Pridonoff, a faculty member of the Piano Department. The instrument was sold to Premier Pianos following the Music Department’s decision to purchase all Steinway pianos in 2004.

Most recently, following our move to the Liberty Township area in September of 2020, the hammers on the Baldwin were sanded and voiced, yielding a much more rounded mellow tone.

Studio A - Home Studio

Students who attend lessons at my home studio in Liberty Township are scheduled on Wednesdays after 3:30 or on Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. I am pleased each week for my students to have the opportunity to learn to play on such a quality instrument. In the video clip to the right, you can hear the Baldwin for yourself on my recording of the classic jazz standard tune, The Nearness of You.

Studio B - Music Room

Students who elect to takes lessons in Mason are scheduled on weekdays during after school hours. Lessons are given in the music classroom at Liberty Bible Academy. Many of my Mason students attend the school, but non-LBA students are also welcome to come for lessons as well. Students have weekly lessons on a Kawaii RX5 6-foot grand piano. It was donated to the school by generous patrons and is another favorite instrument of mine with a soft mellow tone, great feel, and evenly responsive keyboard action. In the video clip below, listen to my recording of Gershwin’s ‘S Wonderful and hear the sound of this beautiful instrument.
